2-5 St John’s Square sits at the centre of the capital’s design and creative communities in a historic corner of London known for its 11th-century priory and annual Clerkenwell Design Week events. Built in the 1960s, with sold-off residential apartments on the upper floors and office space at street level, its refurbishment required care and consideration.
During the renovation, the previously dark and dated ground floor, which had been used as storage by Alexander McQueen, was interconnected with the lower ground floor, dramatically opening up the space. The office spaces were updated to a high standard throughout, while care was taken to minimise disruption to the building’s residential owners.
More recently, Sterling also acquired the front ground and first floors, which have been leased to a long-term tenant. The entire project was completed in-house by the Sterling team, building strong connections with the high-end retail and architect tenants who have occupied the office spaces for more than ten years. This is a testament to the quality of the space created and the careful management of the renovations.
2-5 St John’s Square sits within our long-term income portfolio. It occupies a central location at the heart of the characterful Clerkenwell community. The well-connected St John’s Square is close to Farringdon Crossrail station, open spaces of Clerkenwell Green and the popular pubs and eateries of Cowcross Street.
